A look at the Astrology for this time
Writing here as an astrologer, rather than an author, and as a follow-on to my previous blog about the upcoming Conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in February 2026, I’ve done some research. I wanted to know about the declination of the planets, as without declination it can be hard to know which planet will take priority as neither of these planets work well in Aries.
Declination is basically latitude of planets. The usual conjunctions we speak about are by longitude. You can easily check this out on-line, there are programmes, but declinations are not referenced in any ephemeris.
Declinations are important and often ignored. They give an extra shading to any situation, one which may not be apparent from the natal chart. For example, I found from Alice Portman, astrologer, that Paul McCartney has a Jupiter-Sun-Pluto-IC parallel of declination which is also contraparallel the MC. Contraparallel is just that one planet is North, the other is South. Pluto is nowhere near Sun and Jupiter in his natal longitude chart but they’re in close conjunction by declination, which helps explain his massive, ongoing career success. Sun Jupiter Pluto is very easily and fortunately powerful.
So with the upcoming February 2026 conjunction, both planets are within 1 degree by declination, you can’t go further out than that and are exact, of course, by conjunction. This makes the situation even more important for us. Saturn is at -1.24 and Neptune is at -00.49. I’ve always believed that the Northern-most planet by declination takes priority, and in this case it’s Neptune, which is something of a relief for spiritual seekers.
If it was the other way round, we might find all creative/inspirational tendencies highly restricted.
This declination is preceded two days earlier by Mercury in declination with Neptune at 0 Aries 53 degrees. This is also very close to the equator, a very significant point for any planet in declination. They are parallel, meaning they’re both slightly North of the equator. Mercury Neptune declinations heighten our understanding of situations that are very unclear or numinous. They space us out, possibly for the good.
These significators are all taking place at 0 degrees Aries, which again is considered the most significant placing in the zodiac. Everything points to this being an earth shattering time when many of our strongly held belief systems fall apart, and with Neptune stronger it can be a time of spiritual enlightenment.
Whatever happens, I wish you well, wherever you are. We can all look forward with great interest to the time of this event.
